Launch your first Ghost site

Setting up a new publication takes about five minutes.

1. 1Go to Get Started and create your account, or sign in if you already have one.
2. 2Choose Create a New Ghost Site.
3. 3Basic Information: enter your publication's name and a one-line description.
4. 4Category: pick the topic that fits best. This helps match your site with the right advertisers.
5. 5Domain: type the custom domain you want to use, or leave it blank for now. You can connect a domain any time later.
6. 6Newsletter: name your newsletter and choose who it comes from.
7. 7Branding: upload a logo and choose a brand color.
8. 8Review: check everything and press Launch publication.

Your new site appears in your dashboard straight away and builds itself automatically. While it is being built, its status shows as Being built; this usually takes 2 to 3 minutes. When it shows Live, click Open Ghost Admin to start writing. Your Ghost sign-in (your email and a generated password) is shown on that page the first time; you can change the password in Ghost under your profile.
